Private coaching with Coach Jamal

40+ is an upgrade. Let's train like it.

You're the one everybody leans on. Work, kids, parents, the group chat. And you're running on coffee number three by 2:30. I see you, because I'm living it too. One-on-one coaching: we test what's going on inside, I build your training, food and recovery around it, and I stay in your phone every week until it sticks.

Free 20-minute call. You'll fill out a short intake right after you book.

Coach Jamal PowersCSCS · FDN-P · USAW L1Holistic Performance Coach™
Two specialties, one coach

Strength coach. Health coach. Same guy.

Here's what I hear every week: "My trainer says lift more. My doctor says my numbers look fine. Nobody's connecting the dots." That's the gap I fill. One coach for the gym and everything outside it.

CSCS

Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist

This is the strength side. How much you can handle, how we build it, what we swap when your knee starts talking on the stairs, and how we keep you lifting at 60 without getting hurt. I'm 40-plus. I hear the snaps and pops too. I train around them.

FDN-P

Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner

This is the inside. Why you're wide awake at 3:12 a.m. Why your pants fit different around the middle even though you eat pretty good. At-home labs for stress hormones, gut health, food sensitivities and nutrients, plus coaching on food, sleep, movement, stress and supplements.

Why you want both

Real talk: you can't out-train bad sleep and a body that's running on stress. I've watched a lot of good people grind harder in the gym and feel worse. If your recovery is off, a harder workout just digs the hole deeper. When I can see what's going on inside, I write training your body can actually bounce back from. One coach. One plan. No mixed messages.

How we find your starting point

We test. We don't guess.

You've probably already been told you're fine. Maybe more than once. Your intake tells me where to look, and I only order what answers your questions. You won't do every test on this list.

In the gym

Body compositionMuscle, body fat and where you carry it
Movement screenHow your hips, shoulders and back move, and where you're cheating
Strength numbersWhere you start, so we can see real progress
Performance AgeFloor rise, push-ups and balance, retested along the way

At-home labs

Stress hormonesWhy you crash at 3 and can't sleep at 11
Gut healthWhy you're bloated after food that should sit fine
Food sensitivities"Healthy" foods that might be keeping you puffy and tired
NutrientsThings like vitamin D and magnesium. Melanated folks, we're often low on D.

Labs are for coaching. They don't diagnose anything. If something needs a doctor, I'll tell you to take it to your doctor.

The coaching part

I'm in your phone every week.

You've started over on a Monday more times than you can count. Week two, life hits, and you're back to zero. That's where I come in. Labs give us information. The coaching is what keeps you from quitting on yourself.

Training built for you

Written off your results and your real schedule. Kid's game ran late? Shoulder clicking when you reach for the top shelf? Traveling this week? Text me. I adjust it.

Food and supplements

No more eating the kids' leftover nuggets over the sink and calling it lunch. What to eat more of, what to back off, and the few supplements that make sense for you. No 12-bottle shelf.

Weekly check-ins

I see your log. If you skip, I'm gonna notice, and I'm gonna say something. Lovingly. Mostly.

Retest and prove it

We retest your numbers and your labs, so you can see it. And when you text me a new PR, I'm gonna be more hyped than you are.

Who it's for

This is for you if...

You're doing the work and still dragging

You train, you eat pretty good, and you're still asleep on the couch by 8:45. Then up at 3 a.m. Recovery takes forever. The scale won't move.

Your labs say normal. You don't feel normal.

You walked out of the doctor's office feeling dismissed. You want somebody to look deeper and tell you what to do about it.

You want to keep up with your kids

You want to get up off the floor after playing with the kids without a hand on the couch. Coming back after a few busy years, an injury or burnout, and you want to do it right this time.

You play a sport

I coach athletes too. Power, conditioning and a body that holds up all season.

Real talk: this is for people ready to invest in their health with a professional. Private coaching is an investment, and we'll talk about it on the call if it's a fit. If you just want a solid program to run on your own, start with FLEX 40.

What it can look like

How a plan comes together.

These are examples of the kind of people I work with, not real client results. Every plan comes from your own intake and labs.

Example

The 48-year-old who hit a wall

Where they started
Lifting four days a week, coffee number three by 2:30, still wiped out before pickup.
What testing showed
A flat stress-hormone pattern and a gut that wasn't handling their food.
What changed
Fewer, smarter lifting days, a real morning routine and food they actually digest well.
Example

The parent getting back in it

Where they started
Gym membership unused since February. Bloated most days. Nothing left after work and bedtime.
What testing showed
A few food sensitivities and a low starting strength baseline.
What changed
Beginner strength work three days a week and a simpler way of eating. The bloating settled down.
Example

The 52-year-old with snaps and pops

Where they started
Knees talking on the stairs, shoulder clicking overhead, scared to put real weight on the bar.
What testing showed
Hip movement limits on the screen and low vitamin D.
What changed
Pre-hab every session, smarter exercise swaps and a build back up to real weight.

What happens next

Here's how to get ready for our call.

  1. Book your callPick a time that works. It's free and takes 20 minutes.
  2. Fill out your intakeIt pops up right after you book. Goals, training, health history, sleep, stress, food and what you're taking. Do it before we talk. If it's not done, I'll reschedule, because that's how I show up ready for you.
  3. We talkI'll have read your intake, so we skip the small talk. Tell me what your days actually look like. I'll tell you what I'd test first, how coaching would work for you, and my honest take, even if that's not working with me.
  4. If it's a fit, we startYou get your lab kits and onboarding, and we build your plan from your results.

Have these handy: any recent bloodwork, the supplements and meds you take, and what your week of workouts looks like right now.
